Lloyd "Pete" Bradley, Jr., age 85, of Bloomsburg, died on Friday, November 12, 2010, a resident at Emmanuel Nursing Center in Danville. He was a resident of his home on Eighth Street in Bloomsburg since 1960 and most recently resided on Mateo Drive at the Meadows in Danville.
Pete was born on Tuesday, July 7, 1925, in Wellsville, Ohio, a son of the late Lloyd and Elizabeth Yost Bradley, Sr. He attended the Williamsport and Unityville Area Schools. Following his education, he enlisted in the United States Navy for four years, and re-enlisted with the United Stated Marine Corp for sixteen years. He served during WWII and the Korean Conflict as a Combat Engineer obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant E5. He was awarded the Purple Heart following injury during his active duty. He was also awarded the WWII Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He served his country faithfully in the Marine Corp for over twenty years.
Following his retirement from the Military, he was employed by the former Housenick Motors for over twelve years. He was also a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Bloomsburg. Pete found enjoyment in his hobbies of hunting, golf and the Yankees.
Including his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Zella F. Hartman, on February 9, 2010 and a sister: Sally Campbell in 2006.
Survivors include a daughter: Kathleen M. Carr of Bloomsburg; two sons: Daniel L. Bradley and his wife, Beverly, of Bethlehem; and Timothy L. Bradley and his wife, Maribeth, of Elizabethtown; and also three grandchildren: Kaelyn, Jillian, and Aidan Bradley.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010, at 1 p.m. from Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 101 E. Fifth St. in Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Ralph B. Hartenbach officiating.
Friends will be received on Friday at the church from 12 Noon until the time of service. Burial will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia. For those unable to personally attend services, online condolences are available at Allen-FuneralHome.com
