Leonard E. Stone, Sr., age 88, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, a patient of the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. Leonard was a resident of his home in Beaver Twp. for over 30 years.
He was born on Saturday, April 18, 1936 in Plymouth Twp., a son of the late John and Esther (Voltier) Stone. He attended the former Harter High School, West Nanticoke. He faithfully served in the United States Navy from January 27, 1955 and was honorably discharged on December 1, 1958. On November 23, 1996, Leonard married his loving wife the former, Linda Lee Higgins. For over 10 years, Leonard was employed by Heinz Pet Products as a custodian until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg. He was an avid race walker winning numerous awards.
In addition to his parents, Leonard was also preceded in death by two sons; Leonard E. Stone, Jr., Jeffrey Stone, six brothers; Thomas Stone, Robert Stone, John Stone, James Stone, William Stone, Jr., Harry Stone and a sister; Ruth Noto.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 28 years: Linda of Bloomsburg, five sons: Stephen Stone and companion Marisol of the Pocono area, John Stone and wife Lori of Plymouth, James Stone and companion, Chris of Honey Pot, Michael Stone and wife Jennifer of Nanticoke, Chris Stone and wife Jennifer of West Chester; two step-sons: Robert P. Snyder, Jr. and wife Kristina of Nanticoke, Stephen A. Snyder and wife Brenda of Williamsport; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and a brother, Patrick Stone of Plymouth.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 10:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg with military honors provided by the Catawissa VFW Post #8306 Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Stone family.
