Obituary

Lawrence E. "Larry" Broadt, 82, a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 29, 2026. Larry was born on March 15, 1943, son of the late Edward and Beulah (Sitler) Broadt. An outstanding athlete in baseball and football, he graduated from Bloomsburg High School, Class of 1961. He went on to earn an Associates degree in Mechanical Drafting from Williamsport Area Community College. Larry and his loving wife, Bonny V. (Giger) Broadt celebrated 63 years of marriage together.

Larry was a servant of the Lord, always seeking to help others; leading Bible Studies, Grief Share programs and his favorite, visiting shut-ins. His passion for helping others, especially youth, found him becoming the best Scout Master. He guided fifteen young men to the rank of Eagle Scout, including his twin sons. Larry was a baseball coach, a counselor at both Eastern Pennsylvania Christian Service Camp and Camp Dost (a camp for kids with cancer). Always having a good story to share worked magic in his sales career. In his spare time, he created beautiful wooden furniture and unique walking sticks. Larry was happiest in the woods, where he could be found hiking, canoeing, camping and hunting. He shared his love for mankind, and most of all, his love for the Lord, wherever his life took him.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Bonny V. Broadt, their four children; Christine E. Lionetti and husband Christopher, Angela M. Storer and husband Scott, Kerry L. Broadt, Karl L. Broadt and wife Mary Beth, his grandchildren; Jason K. Broadt and wife Emily, Aaron M. Lionetti, Alyssa M. Broadt, Nicoleena M. Storer, Ethan L. Lionetti, his sister; Pamela K. Stauffer, and his brother; John C. Broadt and wife Caroline. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Reverend Joel D. Stauffer.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Bloomsburg Christian Church, 107 Deussen Dr., Bloomsburg; funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, with Pastor Preston Atkinson of Sunbury Bible Church, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg, is honored to be serving the Broadt family.
