Larry L. Funk, age 78, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018, in the emergency room of the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital in Bloomsburg. Larry was a resident of his Scott Twp. home for 78 years.
Larry was born on Saturday, May 11, 1940 in Scott Twp., a son of the late Harvey LaRue and Margaret G. (Long) Funk. Throughout his younger years, Larry attended the Scott Twp. area schools, and later graduated from Central Columbia High School in 1958. He faithfully served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1965. For over 45 years, Larry was employed as a Manager of the former Davidson's Furniture Store in Bloomsburg and Shenandoah until his retirement in 1996. Larry was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Espy where he served on the church council and sang in the choir. He also sang for the Bicentennial Choir and the Sacred Choral. He loved to bake, and enjoyed going out to eat with all of his women friends.
In addition to his parents, Larry was also preceded by sister, Nancy A. Mensch.
Survivors include a sister, Barbara J. wife of Rodger Robinholt of Bloomsburg; brother in law, John P. Mensch of Bloomsburg; niece, Wendy S. Siciliano; nephew, Jonathan V. Mensch and wife Melinda; niece, Pamela A. wife of Douglas Lynn; nephew, Matthew C. Mensch and several great nieces and nephews.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the St. John Lutheran Church, 2575 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Gordon E. Smith, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Funk family.
