Obituary

Kenneth S. Taylor, age 75, 700 E. Third Street, Bloomsburg, died Wednesday, December 17 at his residence. He had been a Bloomsburg resident for over forty years. He had been in ill health since October.
Ken was born May 12, 1933 in North Adams, MA, the son of the late Hugh and Anna (Walsh) Taylor. He was a 1951 graduate of Drury High School and a 1959 graduate of Bryant College in Providence, RI. During the Korean War Era he served in the U.S. Navy as a Signalman. Ken had been employed as a school supplies rep., worked for Columbia County Area Agency on Aging and was employed for the past seven years as Director of Veterans Affairs for Columbia County.

Ken was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. He was also
a member of Ft. McClure Post #804 VFW where he had
recently served as Chaplain; a member of Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post #273; was a member of several golf and bowling leagues.
Ken was preceded in death by a sister: Clair Crews and five brothers: Martin, Hugh, Jr., William, George and Donald Taylor. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Survivors include four daughters: Karen Neese and her husband William, Bridget Taylor, Corinne Martz and her husband Scott all of Bloomsburg and Patricia Taylor of Philadelphia; four grandchildren: Danny and Laurel Downs and Naomi and Rachel Martz; and one step-granddaughter: Elizabeth Neese.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 P.M. from the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg with Rev. Joseph Fennessy officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 1 P.M. until time of service. There will be a combined VFW/Legion group providing military honors. Burial will be in South View Cemetery, North Adams, MA at a later date. Memorial contributions in Ken's name are suggested to: V. A. Medical Center, 1111 E. End Boulevard, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711.
Carolyn May Walburn, age 81, died Wednesday, December 10 at the Fritzingertown Senior Living Community in Drums, where she had been a resident for the last three years.

Born in Hazleton on July 8, 1927, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Alvin E. and Martha P. (Shaw) Margwarth. She graduated from Hazleton High School, class of 1945 and from the Hazleton State Hospital School of Nursing. She affiliated at the Danville State Hospital and after receiving her R.N., she worked there for thirty years, retiring in 1981. She and her husband, Robert, lived in Danville for a short time after their marriage in 1969, before moving to Valley Rd, Bloomsburg.

Carolyn was a member of the Grove Presbyterian Church, Danville.
Robert preceded her in death on December 19, 2005. Survivors include her sister: M. Jane and her husband Max Jenness of Meredith, New Hampshire; a nephew: Timothy M. Jenness and his wife, Emily and their two sons: Kieran and Logan of Knoxville, Tennessee; a niece: Susan J. Fleming and her husband, Martin and their son: Nathan of Milton, Vermont and a sister-in-law: Shirley Walburn of Lewisburg. Funeral and Committal services will be Saturday at 11 A.M. from the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg with her pastor, The Rev. Dr. Robert J. Andrews officiating. Friends may visit the family prior to the service. Burial will be in the Lincoln Chapel Cemetery, Hartley Township, Union County.
