Kenneth W. Buck, age 83, of Bloomsburg, died suddenly on Wednesday evening, Feb. 12, 2014, at his home in Bloomsburg. Prior to moving back to the Bloomsburg area, Ken was also a resident of Beaufort, S.C., for many years.
Ken was born on Thursday, Feb. 27, 1930, in Rupert, a son of the late Fred and Blanche (Klinger) Buck. Throughout his younger years, Ken attended and later graduated in 1948 from the former Scott School. On Dec. 15, 1949, Ken enlisted with the United States Marine Corps where he served his country faithfully as a Sergeant until his honorable discharge in 1952. Shortly after his discharge from the military, Ken met and married his first wife, Shirley (Bower) Buck, who passed in 1999. For over 30 years, Ken was employed by the Government Civil Service as an order writer. On Jan. 2, 2010, Ken married his second wife, the former Dorothy (Eisenhauer) McEwen, of Bloomsburg.
In addition to his first wife, Ken was preceded in death by two brothers: James and Charles Buck; and also by two sisters: Dorothy Mensinger and Mary Jane Hause.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Dorothy Buck, of Bloomsburg; a daughter, Teresa Annis, of Beaufort, S.C.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Elden Bruce Buck, of Troy; and a sister, Jeanne Keister, of Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral services will be held in Beaufort, S.C., and Ken will be laid to rest in the Beaufort National Cemetery with full Military Honors. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg, is honored to be serving the Buck family.
