Kendra Joy Cook, age 41, of Danville, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family after courageously battling cancer.
She was born on Sunday, March 29, 1981, in Danville, a daughter of Renee M. Petro of Danville. Kendra graduated from the Southern Columbia Area High School in 1999. Kendra expanded her education by graduating from Bloomsburg University in 2003 with a Bachelors of Science in Education Degree, and Wilkes University in 2019 with a Masters of Science in Education Degree. Upon completing her bachelors degree, she was a substitute teacher for various area school districts. She then went to work for Northwestern Academy and Shamokin Area School District until she became employed by Williamsport Area School District in 2015, as a sixth-grade teacher at Curtin Intermediate. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Slabtown.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Kendra. She loved the rain and the first snowfall. Kendra had a great passion for animals and loved gardening and growing flowers, especially her orchids. Kendra had the uncanny ability to find the positive in things and always looking to her next accomplishments. She had a witty sense of humor and pleasant personality. Most of all Kendra loved and adored her daughter, making the most of the memories she shared with Nattilynn, her family and beloved dogs. Kendra and her husband, Matt enjoyed various vacations to the Caribbean and as their family grew, they loved spending the summers at the beach with their daughter.
Kendra was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Arlene C. Petro.
Survivors include her beloved husband and best friend of 15 years, Matthew L. Cook, her beloved daughter, Nattilynn Marie Cook, her mother, Renee M. Petro of Danville, maternal grandfather, Joseph J. Petro, Jr. of Catawissa, uncle and aunt, Joseph J. Petro, III and wife Cindy of Catawissa, uncle and aunt, Raymond B. Petro and wife Julie of Catawissa, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jeffrey and Cynthia Cook of Danville, sister-in-law, Natasha Cook of Selinsgrove, brother-in-law, George Cook of Danville, uncle and aunt, Roger and Pam Dillman of Selinsgrove, as well as several cousins.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Michael Delp, officiating.
