Obituary

Kathryn S. Fetterolf , age 77, of Bloomsburg, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at her home surrounded by family and under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice. Kathryn was a resident of her home in Hemlock Township for 13 years.
Kathryn was born on Monday, December 18, 1939 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Wilmer C. and Lillian (Hower) Lowe. Throughout her younger years, Kathryn attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1957. Kathryn expanded her education by attending Polyclinic School of Nursing, Harrisburg and became a Registered Nurse in 1960.
On February 18, 1961, Kathryn married her loving husband, Thomas J. Fetterolf who died October 16, 2013.
Kathryn began her nursing career at Geisinger Medical Center and went on to work at several Hospitals and Nursing Homes in New Jersey. In 1969 her family relocated to Columbia County, then began working at Danville State Hospital until 1986.
In 1986 Kathryn and her husband entered the ministry and pastored Hendrickson and Mooresburg United Methodist Churches, Port Matilda United Methodist Charge, and Salladasburg United Methodist Charge. After formally retiring from the ministry, Kathryn and her husband assisted at Buckhorn United Methodist Church and finally became pastor of Emanuel Reformed Church, Mainville.
Kathryn was a member of the Emanuel Reformed Church of Mainville, where she served as church organist and choir member. She was also a member of the Women's Guild of Buckhorn United Methodist Church and Emanuel Reformed Church. She was a lay speaker with United Methodist Church. Additionally she was a member of the Bloomsburg Fair Vespers Committee and Choir.
Survivors include her children: Virginia Marie (Evelio) Molina of Sebastian, FL, Thomas R. (Denise DeCarolis) Fetterolf of Berwick, William J. Fetterolf of Bloomsburg, Laura J. (John Barratt) Fetterolf of Bloomsburg, and Lewis J. (Amber) Fetterolf of Blanchard, PA, grandchildren Jodi A. Fetterolf, Thomas J. "TJ" Fetterolf, Jr., Raymond Molina, Davis Seyler, Kyle Seyler, and Shelby Seyler; four siblings:Wilmer J. (Nancy) Lowe of Rochester, NY, Elizabeth "Betsy" M. Strausser of Berwick,Carol A. (James) Wolfe of Bloomsburg, andJanet L. Buck of Hughesville, PA.
Kate loved Jesus her savior, her family, her church family, music and singing, making beautiful things, baking, houseplants, flower gardens, playing piano, paper weight collecting, making Pysanky Ukrainian Dyed Eggs, and talking with friends and family.
Funeral Services will begin on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Emanuel Reformed Church, 146 Church Road (Mainville), Bloomsburg with Rev. Bradley Breisch, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Emanuel Reformed Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Fetterolf family.
