Kathryn G. Edgar, age 91, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 5, 2020, at Brookdale Assisted Living of Bloomsburg, where she lived for the past 3 years.
She was born on Tuesday, May 7, 1929 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Harry T. and Kathryn (Traub) Gunter. Kathryn graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1947 and was very active with her class enjoying luncheons and activities with her classmates. On May 21, 1949, Kathryn married her loving husband, Doyle W. Edgar who preceded her in death on May 23, 2012. For over 20 years, Kathryn was employed by the Pennsylvania Public Assistance Office, Bloomsburg as a secretary and case worker until her retirement in 1989. She also worked for her late husband as a secretary for Edgar's Plumbing & Heating Company, Bloomsburg.
Kathryn was a member of the Shiloh Bible Church, Almedia. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ for many years at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Fifth and Iron Streets, Bloomsburg. She was also a very active member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary for 29 years where she enjoyed knitting caps for newborn babies and worked the information desk for over 1,700 hours. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Doyle in their Holiday Rambler Camper with a group of friends called the Holiday Ramblers across the United States and Canada. Kathryn served as secretary for the club and wintered in Florida for numerous years.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Kathryn was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Helen Jane Gunter.
Survivors include her two beloved sons, William H. Edgar and wife Pamela of Lightstreet, David W. Edgar and wife Michele of Mt. Pleasant Twp., four grandchildren, Nadia wife of Brett Williams of Wilkes Barre, Alison wife of David Maxwell of Baltimore, MD, Brent Edgar of Catawissa, Ryan Edgar and wife Jennifer of Bloomsburg, three great grandchildren, Aubrey Edgar, Blake Edgar, Oscar Maxwell, and a niece, Stacy wife of Joe Semborski of Bloomsburg.
Graveside services will begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 10:00 am at the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy with Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Edgar family.
