Kathryn M. (Brooking) Bogart, age 94, a life-long resident of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday evening, June 26, 2014, a resident of Balanced Care at Bloomsburg in Scott Township.
Kathryn was born on Wednesday, June 16, 1920 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Johnson) Brooking. Throughout her younger years, Kathryn attended and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1938. In 1946, Kathryn married her husband, P. Zender Bogart of Mt. Pleasant Township. Kathryn dedicated her life to caring for her family and children. For many years, she was a member of the former Church of the Nazarene in Bloomsburg.
On January 24, 2008, Kathryn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, P. Zender Bogart. She was also preceded by a great-grandson: Justin Cunningham; five siblings: John Brooking, Paul Brooking, Tim Brooking, Pearl Tedesco and Margaret Edwards; and two son-in-laws: Donald Lowman in 2007 and James Thomas in 2014.
Survivors include four daughters: Anna Mae Cunningham and husband, Paul, of Bloomsburg; Betty Lowman of Orangeville; Jean Swisher and husband, Gary, of Bloomsburg; and Ruth Thomas of Bloomsburg; a son: Paul Z. Bogart, Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Benton; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
At the present time, all viewings, services and graveside committal services are going to be held privately by the family. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Bogart family.
