June Ruth Mainzer, age 79, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully at her home on November 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 24, 1946, in Danville, to the late Percy and Dorothy (Lyons) Shellenberger. June was known for her boundless kindness, her deep faith in God, and her unwavering love for her family. To know her was truly to love her. She embodied generosity in its purest form - the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back without a second thought. Her heart was open to everyone she met, and her kind gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
For several years, June worked as a caregiver, a role that perfectly reflected her compassionate nature and her love for helping others. It was through this work, and her nature and her love for helping others. It was though this work, and her natural ability to make everyone feel cared for, that she was affectionately nicknamed "Momma June."
June found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved talking with people and could strike up a conversation with anyone. One of her favorite pastimes was scratching lottery tickets - a small thrill that always brought a smile to her face. Above all else, her greatest happiness came from time spent with her family, who were the center of her world.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Shellenberger; and her sister, Mary Sherwood.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Mainzer; her loving children, Joe Mainzer Jr., June Gutshall (Jamie), Christopher Mainzer, Theresa Mainzer; her sister, Helen Snyder; and her cherished grandchildren, Nicole Mainzer, Jake Gutshall, Andi Gutshall, and Liam Mainzer.
June's family and friends will forever remember her warmth, compassion, and laughter. Her love will continue to shine though the lives she touched. In keeping with her wishes, June will be cremated, and services will be private.
