Judy L. Hartzel Strausser , age 81, of Danville, died on Thursday, October 18, 2018, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center.
Judy was born on Tuesday, September 7, 1937 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Clarence E. and Audrey (Carson) Tilbury. Throughout her younger years, Judy attended the Bloomsburg High School. Judy expanded her education by attending Mooresburg Practical Nursing School and graduated with a Associate Degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
For over 20 years, Judy was employed by Danville State Hospital and for 10 years by the Berwick Hospital. She retired in 1997.
Judy was a member of the Emanuel Dutch Hill Bible Church, where she sang in the church choir. She was also a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 804 Bloomsburg, Valley Grange #52, Women of the Moose, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Millville. Judy enjoyed spending her time singing with the Swinging Seniors Band. She participated in the Bloomsburg Fair Vespers Services, she Played Piano at every Opportunity, and she enjoyed Square, Round and Ball Dancing. In addition she enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her parents, Judy was also preceded by a son, Scott Christopher Hartzel on July 30, 1980; her first husband, Charles D. Hartzel, Jr. on December 26, 1979 and her second husband, Dale L. Strausser in 1995.
Survivors include her five sons: Randall L. Hartzel and wife, Janet, of Nescopeck; Charles D. Hartzel, III and wife, Susan, of Millville; Mark S. Hartzel and wife, Nancy, of Bloomsburg; Todd B. Hartzel and wife, Carol, of Millville: David W. Hartzel and wife, Brenda, of Bloomsburg, 15 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, two Great Great Grandchildren and two step daughters: Vicki D. Johnson and husband, Reginald, of Millville, and Valori S. Beagle and husband, Steven, of Millville and two step sons: Glen Strausser of Pine Summit and Edward Strausser of Washingtonville.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 107 West Main at Railroad St., Millville. Funeral Services will follow at 2 pm with her pastor, Rev. George Allen Zerbe, officiating.
Private Graveside committal services will be held in the Creveling Cemetery, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Strausser family.
