Obituary
Judith Poland Ashby, age 74, of Lewisburg, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020, at her Lewisburg home, she had lived in Media, PA for most of her life. Judy resided at Riverwoods Retirement Community, Lewisburg since 2013.
She was born on Wednesday, December 12, 1945 in Wilmington, DE, just in time for Christmas, her favorite holiday, a daughter of the late Jules and Ethel (Bullock) Poland. Judy graduated from the Penncrest High School, Media, PA in 1963. As a girl she was active in Rainbow Girls and later in life, Eastern Star.
On November 23, 1966, Judy married her loving husband, Roy D. Ashby. She worked at Tidewater Utilities as the executive assistant to the owner for the majority of her career. She always attended church and had a great relationship with the Lord. Judy love swimming both at her pool and in the ocean at Rehoboth Beach. Her time spent at the beach with family was special and she especially enjoyed eating fresh seafood. Judy enjoyed knitting and crafting and had a business selling specialty crafts for a number of years. She volunteered her time in her church throughout her life and later at the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary, as well as the Riverwoods Auxiliary, visitor's desks and development office. She was rarely seen without a smile on her face. She always had a hug to give, kind words to share and an infectious laugh. She was like 12 cups of hot chocolate all at once and super sweet all the time. She was loved and will be missed.
In addition to her parents, Judy was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Walter H. Kearney.
Survivors include her beloved husband of almost 54 years, Roy D. Ashby, a son, R. David Ashby and wife Fran of Bloomsburg, a brother, Alan Poland, a niece Katherine P. Knightly and a nephew Byron Poland.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Ashby family.
