Joyce E. (Baylor) Comstock, age 77, of Mifflinville, died on Wednesday evening, December 24, 2014 a resident of Balanced Care at Bloomsburg for the past thirteen years.
Joyce was born on November 17, 1937 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Daniel M. and Frances (Fetterolf) Baylor. Throughout her younger years, Joyce attended the Mainville area schools and later graduated Valedictorian from the Mifflinville High school in 1953. On April 19, 1954, Joyce married her husband, Harrison S. Comstock of Mifflinville. She was a former member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Mainville where she was the organist and choir director for many years. Most recently, she was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church for in Mifflinville. As a resident of Balanced Care at Bloomsburg, Joyce organized the Christmas program and was a member of the resident council. Joyce loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching each of their sporting events.
On March 1, 2008, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison S. Comstock. She was also preceded by a granddaughter: Jillian Sorber; and two twin brothers: Melvin and Alan Baylor.
Survivors include a son: Dan H. Comstock and wife, Loreen, of Bloomsburg; three daughters: Virginia Rapant and husband, Milan, of Millville; Cindy Conner and husband, Jerry, of Berwick; and Francis Sorber of Apopka, FL; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Linda Adler and husband, John, of Bloomsburg; and Elsie Buehler also of Bloomsburg.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday morning, December 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Tuesday morning, December 30 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Interim pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Comstock family.
