Josephine M. Crossley, age 76, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Josephine was a resident of Bloomsburg for over 48 years.
She was born on Sunday, October 4, 1942 in Hazleton, a daughter of the late John W. and Mary J. (Rusnock) Urban. Throughout her younger years, Josephine attended the Hazleton area schools, and later graduated from the Black Creek Township High School in Rock Glen in 1960. Josephine expanded her education by attending Bloomsburg State College, earning a Bachelor's Degree and a Masters Degree. On February 19, 1966, Josephine married her loving husband, Edward H. Crossley. For over 28 years, she was employed by Bloomsburg University Harvey A. Andruss Library as an Inter Library Loan Officer until her retirement in 2002. Josephine was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. She also served at The Adoration Chapel at St. Cyril's, Danville. She enjoyed spending her time gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren and her rescue dogs.
In addition to her parents, Josephine was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alexander Urban and Edward Urban.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 52 years, Edward H. Crossley at home; two children, Wayne E. Crossley of Bloomsburg, and Karen A. wife of Jeffrey Wise of Northumberland, two granddaughters, Kaitlyn G. Crossley, and Emily E. Crossley, a brother, John M. Urban and wife Margaret of Bloomsburg, and a sister, Eleanor wife of Jacob Broyan of Nescopeck, and thirteen nieces and nephews.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg. Friends and family will also be received on Wednesday October 10, 2018 from 9:00 am to 9:30 am at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg with Rev. Patrick A. Devine, celebrant. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Crossley family.
