Joseph "Joe"
Polinchock Jr.
Jul 2, 1943 — Jun 21, 2026
Joseph “Joe” Polinchock Jr., 82, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026 at his home in North Centre Township. Joe was born on July 2, 1943 to the late Joseph and Marion (Lightcap) Polinchock.
After graduating from Hellertown-Lower Saucon High School, Joe followed in his father’s footsteps and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After serving, he began a long and exciting career in construction. Sponsored by the Bethlehem Capenter’s Union, Joe was able to take classes while honing his skills in the trades. He would serve in various capacities in several area construction firms, eventually taking on the role of jobsite superintendent where he oversaw the construction of schools, work on the Dover Air Force Base, and even construction of an ICU for horses, among countless other projects. In his later years, after returning to the Bloomsburg area, he worked for and eventually retired from Renco Ace Hardware.
On December 15, 1983, Joe married the love of his life, the former Suzanne Brown. Joe was a friend of First English Baptist Church and was a member of the Mainville Sportsman Club. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Later in life, Joe found a passion for jewelry making. He would make jewelry for Breast Cancer Awareness and even crafted jewelry for schools to use for fundraising. Joe’s kind and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Suzanne, Joe is survived by his step-children: Hannah Gray and husband, Philip, of Berwick and Matthew Layland and wife, Shannon, of Malabar, FL; three beloved grandchildren: Charles Layland and wife, Erica, of Broken Arrow, OK, Madeline Dykima and husband, James, of Corpus Christi, TX, and Faith Gray of Berwick; two great-grandchildren: Suzanne Layland and Jordann Stokes; as well as his sister, Mildrid Knerr and his brother, Mark Polinchok, both of Bethlehem.
A memorial service for Joe will be announced at a future date. The Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market St, Bloomsburg, is honored to be serving the Polinchock family.
