Obituary

John Nevin Weiss, age 87, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Monday evening, August 26, 2024, a patient of the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital. John was a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg.

John was born on Wednesday, November 25, 1936 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Joseph E. and Lena Madge (Robbins) Weiss. He graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1955. He faithfully served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1963. John expanded his education by attending welding school. In his younger years he worked at Magee Carpet Company, Data-Com and lastly was employed by Geisinger Health Care in the environmental services department until his retirement. He was ordained into the priesthood of RLDS Church. John as a loving, caring, faithful soul who loved his family. He will be remembered as a staunch Democrat who strongly advocated for Worker's Unions. John's favorite teams were the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.

In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by four siblings: Joseph E. Weiss, Jr., Arlene Mourey, Richard H. Weiss and Robert E. Weiss.

Survivors include his sister: Sandra L. Brobst and husband Thomas of Bloomsburg; his loving helper: Cassie Goss; several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and nephews and also his beloved cat, Phil.

Graveside Services will begin Friday, August 30, 2024 at 10:30 am at Dutch Hill Cemetery, 592 Dutch Hill Road, Bloomsburg. Military honors will be presented by The Columbia County Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Weiss family.
