John C. Murphy, age 49, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020, at his South Centre Twp. residence.

He was born on Monday, October 12, 1970 in Bronx, NY, a son of Theresa L. (Maguire) Murphy of Rockaway Park, Queens, NY and the late Robert M. Murphy, Sr. John graduated from Beach Channel High School, Queens, NY and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Air Force. For many years John was employed as the head maintenance man at a school district in New York. John attended St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. John liked hiking and being outdoors and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his father, John was also preceded in death by a brother, Steven J. Murphy.

Survivors include his beloved mother, Theresa L. Murphy of Rockaway Park, Queens, NY, two brothers, Brian E. Murphy of Brooklyn, NY, Robert M. Murphy, Jr. of Rockaway Beach, NY, a sister, Catherine wife of Frank Amonte of South Ozone Park, NY, two uncles, Harry E. English of Bloomsburg, Edward D. Maguire and wife Terrie of Folsom, PA, an aunt Margaret C. wife of Donald Edwards of Benton, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 27, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, as celebrant. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Murphy family.
