John R. Makowski, III, age 57, of Conyngham, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He was a resident of his home in Black Creek Township for over 10 years.

John was born on Monday, September 9, 1968, in Bloomsburg, a son of Mary Elizabeth (Gensel) Fox and the late John Raymond Makowski, Jr. He graduated from the Columbia Montour AVTS in 1986. He faithfully served in the United States Navy from July 16, 1987, and was honorably discharged on July 15, 1991. For over 20 years, John was employed by Bemis, Hazleton as a laborer. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, gaming and loved to read.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Elizabeth Fox and Dennis Hartzell of Bloomsburg; his two sisters Dawn Mensch and husband Keith of Orangeville, Carrie A. Smith of Berwick; his niece, Willow Marie "Monster" Mensch, his uncle and best friend, Russell Freas of Mifflinburg, as well as other aunts and uncles.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.

Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 10:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Michael Spagnuolo, Catawissa Christian Church, officiating. Military honors will be provided by The Columbia County Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Makowski family.
