Obituary

John K. "Ken" Layos, age 79, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Ken was a resident of Main Twp. all of his life.

He was born on Friday, April 26, 1940 in Main Twp., a son of the late John C. and Evelyn I. (Richendrfer) Layos. Throughout his younger years, Ken attended the Mainville area schools, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1958. Ken faithfully served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1961. Ken lived his life by the Marine Corps motto of "Semper Fi", always loyal, always faithful, always family.

On February 15, 1959, Ken married his loving wife, the former Phyllis Coleman. For over 34 years, he was employed as a Purchasing Agent with Kawneer, Bloomsburg until his retirement in 1999. He attended Shiloh Bible Church for over 40 years. Ken served as a Pennsylvania Deputy Game Protector for 26 years. He enjoyed photography and was a wedding photographer for over 700 weddings.

In addition to his parents, Ken was also preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mae Layos.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Phyllis Layos at home; two daughters, Kimberly wife of Jim Orzolek of Bloomsburg, Beverly wife of Ray Fink of Bloomsburg, eight grandchildren, Jared Orzolek and wife Mariah, Josiah Orzolek and wife Amanda, Jalon Orzolek and wife Larissa, Jordan Orzolek, Mary Kate Orzolek wife of Nicholas Stepanik, James Orzolek, Annissa wife of Chad Roberts, Kenna Fink, seven great grandchildren, Caiden Orzolek, Bryce Orzolek, Alex Orzolek, Eli Orzolek, Dominic Orzolek, Bianca Orzolek, Leiana Orzolek, and a brother, Donald E. Layos of Bloomsburg.

Due to the recent events and the current CDC guidelines, funeral services will be held privately for the family with graveside services in Emanuel Reformed Cemetery, Main Twp. Ken's family apologizes for restricting his family and friends from paying respects at this time. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Layos family.
