John P. "Jack" Vought, Jr., age 72, of 7 Ann Drive, Danville, died Friday, August 28, surrounded by his family in the Geisinger Medical Center. Jack was formerly a resident of 733 E. 5th St. Bloomsburg for 30 years. He was the only son of John P. and Mildred (Girton) Vought born on Thursday, March 4, 1937 in Mainville.
He was a 1955 graduate of the Bloomsburg High School. For 52 years, he was employed by Weis Markets until his retirement in 2005. He was a Member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where he served as a former Church Council Member, Greeter and Usher. Jack valued family time, especially with his grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, hunting, Square Dancing and was a member of the Danjo Wheelers of Danville. He especially enjoyed yard care, lawn mowing, and outside work. For 25 years, he was a volunteer with the Bloomsburg Ambulance Association and a member of the former Rescue Fire Company. Jack was also a member of the Washington Lodge #265 F&AM and the Caldwell Consistory in Bloomsburg,
Jack is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet (Kistler) Vought, of Danville; a daughter: Brenda Hyle and her husband Jeffrey, Lititz; a son: John K. Vought and his wife Donna, Harrisburg; three grandchildren: Ashley N. Vought, John T. Vought, and Emma B. Hyle; and a sister: Carol Shuman, Mainville. Friends will be received Monday, August 31 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St. Masonic Services will be begin at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 N. Market St., Bloomsburg with his pastor, Rev. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Memorial contributions are suggested to Alzheimer's Association, N.E.
