John D. Berger, II age 82, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at his Scott Twp. residence. John was a Bloomsburg resident for most of his life.

He was born on Friday, July 22, 1938 in Sunbury, a son of the late George C. and Mabel H. (Bickel) Berger. John graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1956. On January 30, 1960, John married his loving wife, the former Bonnie L. Edwards, who preceded him in death on September 9, 2010. John was employed by Weis Markets as a Manager/Supervisor for his entire working career until his retirement. He was a member of the Southside Hunting Club, Bloomsburg Elks Lodge #436, and was a Bloomsburg Fair member. John enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, boating, clamming, and crabbing in Delaware. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and the Orange of Syracuse University and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, and wife, John was also preceded in death by three brothers, George C. Berger, Jr., Keith D. Berger, and Robert Bickel.

Survivors include his two beloved children; Karen S. wife of Michael Kovach of Danville, John D. Berger, III and companion Marlene Butters of Bloomsburg, five grandchildren; Alicia H. Kovach, Madison G. Kovach, Jennifer wife of Sean Doucette, Porsche L. Butters, John D. Berger, IV, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Patricia B. Roadarmel of Bloomsburg.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Berger family.
