Joe Jones, Jr., age 85, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022. He was a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for over 43 years.
Joe was born on Sunday, May 16, 1937 in Albany, GA a son of the late Joseph and Mary Lee (Walker) Jones, Sr. Joe married his loving wife, the former Iona R. Manson, who preceded him in death on February 9, 2005. For over 60 years, Joe was employed as a self-employed truck driver until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of the First English Baptist Church, Bloomsburg. Joe enjoyed spending his time trucking, singing and joking at home and loved kids. In his earlier years he loved hunting, fishing, football and westerns.
In addition to his parents and wife, Joe was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Jones and Baby Boy Jones.
Survivors include his three sons; Vincent C. Jones and wife Annitta of Bloomsburg, Joe Jones, III and wife Hassenah of Atlanta, GA, Branson H. Jones and wife Candice of Winfield, PA, a daughter; Edna Haynes of Bartow, FL, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, ten siblings; Willie Lee Jones of Bartow, FL, Emma Hymes of Bartow, FL, Ida Kilpatrick of Winter Haven, FL, David Jones and wife Flora of Auburndale, FL, Willie Lean Jones of White Hall, PA, Otha Jones and wife Vivian of Bartow, FL, Yvonne Brown and husband Clarence of Auburndale, FL, Mary K. Hodge of SC, Sylvia Jones of NJ, Kenneth Jones and wife Brenda of Bartow, FL., as well as many nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday October 29, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at First English Baptist Church, 700 Millville Road, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Saturday October 29, 2022 at 11:00 am at First English Baptist Church with Rev. Mackenzie Scott, officiating. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Jones family.
