Joanne K. (Nichols) Stiner, age 84, of Bloomsburg, died on Wednesday morning, May 27, 2015 a recent resident of the Millville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Joanne was born on Wednesday, January 14, 1931 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late George and Clara (Ohl) Nichols. Throughout her younger years, she attended the Bloomsburg area schools and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1948. She expanded her education by attending the Allentown Bible Institute and later graduated in 1950. After returning home to Bloomsburg, she married her loving husband, Dale M. Stiner, on January 20, 1951. In addition to raising her three children and working in the home, Joanne was also employed for over 30 years as a Seamstress for Milco Industries in Bloomsburg. She and her husband were devoted members of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Millville for many years, until health would not allow them to attend. Joanne will always be remembered for her loving, selfless and caring demeanor which reassured her life mission of always "caring for people".
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by four brothers: David, Dorance, James and Gordon Nichols, and also by two granddaughters: Rebecca Stiner and Amy Stiner. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include her beloved and devoted husband of 64 years, Dale M. Stiner, of Bloomsburg; three children: Deborah Bowman and husband, Martin, of Bloomsburg; Dale M. Stiner II and wife, Melissa, of Millville; and David A. Stiner and wife, Catherine, of Benton; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening, May 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 107 W. Main at Railroad Street in Millville.
Funeral services will begin on Monday morning, June 1 at 10 a.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1314 State Route 254 in Millville with her pastor, Rev. Timothy Valiente, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Jerseytown Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Millville is honored to be serving the Stiner family.
