Joanne A. Hess, age 84, of Millville, and previously of Bloomsburg died on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, a patient of the The Gardens at Millville.
She was born on Friday, March 30, 1934 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Fred M. and Martha (Smith) Ent. Throughout her younger years, Joanne attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1952. For over 20 years, she was employed by Bloomsburg University in the Housekeeping Department until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Bloomsburg. Joanne enjoyed spending her time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, doing seek a word puzzle books and watching television.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was also preceded by two sons, Todd E. Hess and Timothy L. Hess, a brother, Fred M. Ent, Jr. and five sisters, Laura Kaufman, Marjorie Gillespie, Madelyn Bauman, Mary Louise Long and Winifred Bucher.
Survivors include her three beloved children, Susan A. Miller and Curt Clark of Millville, Thomas J. Hess and wife Becky Jo of Bloomsburg and Linda L. wife of Michael Wondoloski of Elkridge, MD, a sister in law, Dottie Ent of Hughesville, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg. Friends and family will also be received on Monday from 10:00 am to 11: 00 am.
Funeral Services will begin on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in with Rev. Dr. Lee Barnhardt, pastor of First English Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Lightstreet Highland Cemetery, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Hess family.
