Joan E. Phillips, age 82, of Montour Boulevard, Danville, died on Friday, January 27, 2012. She was a former resident of Stony Brook Circle, Berwick, PA, Budd Lake, NJ and Ocala, Florida.
Joan was born on Thursday, December 26, 1929 in Montreal, Canada, a daughter of the late Harold and Pearl (Lydon) Riddell. Throughout her working career, she was employed by the Consumer Affairs Office in New Jersey and later became the owner and operator of plaster craft stores in Berwick, Boonton, New Jersey, and Nanticoke. She was also the former Township Treasurer of Mt. Olive Township in New Jersey. She loved spending time sewing, reading, painting, traveling and exploring photography. Her greatest enjoyment of all during her life was spending time with all of her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Kenneth E. Phillips, on January 15, 2004 and five brothers: Vernon, Ross, Alex, Richard, and most recently George Riddell in 2010.
Survivors include a daughter: Ginger Shaffer and husband, Kurtis, of Bloomsburg; a son: Mark K. Phillips and wife, Sharon, of Hackettstown, NJ; four grandchildren: Mandy Morgan, Bryan Shaffer, Brianna Phillips, and Caitlin Phillips; and a great-grandson: Curtis Yohey III; as well as a sister: Patricia Riddell of Renfrew, Ontario.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 31 at 2 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg. Friends will be received on Tuesday at the Allen Funeral Home prior to services. Graveside services will be held in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
