Joan A. "Jenny" LeVan, age 73, of Bloomsburg, died on Monday, February 6, 2012 at her home in Almedia surrounded by her family under the care of Columbia Montour Home Hospice. She has been a resident of her home in Almedia since 1965.
Jenny was born on Thursday, December 29, 1938 in Centralia, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late William and Laura (Schriner) Chapman. Throughout her younger years, she attended the St. Ignatius School in Centralia and later attended high school at the former Con-Cen High School in Aristis. Until her retirement in 2001, she was a proof-reader for the former Haddon Craftsmen in Bloomsburg for over 30 years. She was also a member of the Catholic faith throughout her life. Jenny's crowning achievement was the strength and love she instilled in her family. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 53 years, Ronald E. LeVan, Sr., on April 17, 2011. She was also preceded by eight of her siblings: Theodore Chapman, William Chapman, Elizabeth Buhay, Margaret Cuff, James Chapman, Rose Marie Hine, John "Jack" Chapman, Sr. and Walter Chapman.
Surviving are her two sons: Ronald E. LeVan, Jr. and wife, Leslie, of Berwick; and Frank J. LeVan and wife, Carole, of Fleetwood; three grandchildren: Raichelle Sborz, Eric LeVan and Chad LeVan; a great-grandson: Griffin Sborz and also a sister: Eileen McFadden of Mt. Carmel.
A public Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, February 9 at 1 p.m. in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy with Rev. Thomas J. Fetterolf, officiating. The LeVan family is being assisted by the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
