Joan L. Grinnell , age 64, of Leesburg, FL and Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly of Bloomsburg passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at her residence in Myrtle Beach.
Joan was born on Saturday, February 27, 1954 in New Rochelle, NY, a daughter of the late Karl and Catherine (Gannon) Rickmers. Throughout her younger years, Joan attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and later graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1972. She was last employed as a seamstress with Suntex Dry Cleaners in Bloomsburg for 4 years. On June 15, 2002 Joan married her loving husband Walter F. Grinnell. She loved playing board games, traveling extensively all over the world and she enjoyed life to the fullest. Joan always made everyone she met smile.
In addition to her parents, Joan was also preceded by two sisters, Patricia Benjamin, and Margaret Neilson, and a brother, Thomas Rickmers.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 16 years, Walter F. Grinnell of Leesburg, FL and Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, Richard McFadden and wife Caroline of Berwick; a stepdaughter Melanie wife of Jamie Cochran, of Hanover; two granddaughters, Kiaya McFadden of Berwick and Luca Cochran of Hanover; a grandson, Draven McFadden of Berwick; a great grandson, Caden McFadden, and a great granddaughter, Esmae McFadden; a sister, Kathleen M. wife of William Matthews of Bloomsburg; two brothers, William Rickmers of Bloomsburg, and Daniel Rickmers and wife Kim of Hanover; and a Godson Robert Matthews of Bloomsburg, also several nephews and nieces.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday August 10, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 5:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Stephen Portner, pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church, Berwick, officiating. Burial will be in Bushnell National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL . The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Grinnell family.
