Jerry G. Dorn, age 60, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, November 10, 2016, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Jerry was a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for over 19 years.
Jerry was born on Monday, February 20, 1956 in Tecumseh, Nebraska, a son of the late George and Marie (Zimmerman) Dorn. Throughout his younger years Jerry attended and later graduated from the Nemaha Valley High School, Cook, NE in 1974. Jerry expanded his education by attending the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1989.
On July 1, 2006, Jerry married his loving wife, Ferne (Hunsinger) Dorn of Bloomsburg.
For over 19 years, Jerry was employed by Talen (formerly PPL) as a Systems Engineer. Jerry was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church. Jerry enjoyed spending his time restoring the family's classic car, doing yard work, reading and traveling.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by a sister, Verda Ewing.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 10 years, Ferne E. (Hunsinger) Dorn of Bloomsburg, PA, children: Jeremy J. Dorn (Kimberly) of Springfield, NE, Brian J. Dorn (Christine) of Omaha, NE, Melissa F. Krepps (Zebulun) of York, PA; step son: Matthew T. Hess (fiancée Audra Briggs) of Nescopeck, PA; grandsons: Adam T. Dorn and Thomas W. Dorn; siblings: Judy Schachenmeyer (Norm) of Aurora, NE, Rojane Barrett (Ron) of Harrisburg, NE, Edgar Dorn (Janet) of Beatrice, NE, and Todd Dorn of Cook, NE.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg. Friends and family will also be received on Monday, November 14, from 9 am to 10 am at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 7 St. Luke Way.
Funeral Services will begin on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 10:00 am at the St. Luke Lutheran Church with his pastor, Rev. John Fenton, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow at New Rosemont Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Dorn family.
