Jean (Blackledge) Miller, age 89, formerly of Bloomsburg Towers and Columbia Ave., in Bloomsburg died on Wednesday evening at Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center where she resided since last September.
Jean was born on Sunday, May 11, 1924 in Kingston, a daughter of the late John and Sarah (Morgan) Blackledge. She completed her education upon graduating from the Kingston High School in 1942. During Jean's younger years she was a waitress at the former Ent's Restaurant and the Char-Bar, both of Bloomsburg.
Jean enjoyed listening to big band music and knitting. She was an extraordinarily kind and gentle person and a wonderful wife and mother who was always happiest when she had a houseful of friends and family. A kinder, more generous person you will never find.
On November 12, 2006, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Miller, after almost 61 years of marriage. Also preceding in death were two brothers: James Blackledge in 2004 and Jack Blackledge in 1970. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Jean is survived by three sons: George J. Miller and wife, Hilary, of Lexington KY, Paul J. Miller and wife, Cynthia, of Bloomsburg and Mark J. Miller and wife, Sandy, of Ephrata; seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
At this time, all Funeral Services will be held privately.
