Janie Ruth (Davis) Simpson, age 90, formerly of Bloomsburg since 1951 passed away on Tuesday evening, June 6, 2023, at Vintage Knolls, Danville.

She was born on Friday, July 29, 1932 in Greenville, SC, a daughter of the late Amos E. and Willie Elizabeth (Caldwell) Davis. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1950. On June 26, 1951, Janie married her loving husband, Charles J. Simpson who preceded her in death on August 5, 1992 after 41 years of marriage. For over 36 years, Janie was employed by Bell Telephone/Verizon and Bell Atlantic until her retirement in 1988. Janie was a member of the Buckhorn United Methodist Church and a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Janie was also preceded in death by three brothers, Donald L. Davis, Marion Y. Davis and Jerry E. Davis.

Survivors include her niece, Karren (Davis) Barton and husband Alvin of Fountain Inn, SC, a nephew Joe Simpson of Bloomsburg, two great-nieces, L. Blaine Barton of Fountain Inn, SC and Mackenzie T. Barton of Fountain Inn, SC, a great-nephew, Justin Raney and wife Heather of Greenville, SC, four cousins, Jean H. Ripple of Hummelstown, PA, Nancy Lindenmuth of Bloomsburg, Steven Lindenmuth and his partner Donald Sheep of Bloomsburg, Lori Gordner and husband John of Berwick, and two sisters-in-law, JoAnne Davis of Greenville, SC and Barbara Davis of Fountain Inn, SC.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 11:30 am at Buckhorn United Methodist Church, 94 Schoolhouse Road, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Margaret McCarty, officiating. Please wear something pink in Janie's honor. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Simpson family.
