Obituary

James C. Thomas, age 67, of Jerseytown, died on Tuesday morning, April 8, 2014 at the Emergency Room of Geisinger Medical Center in Danville following a lengthy illness.
Jim was born on Wednesday, June 5, 1946 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Elvin and Violet (Fausey) Thomas. On November 12, 1965, Jim enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War as a Specialist E-5 in Company C First Battalion 19th Infantry 24th Infantry Division. On November 8, 1968, Jim was honorably discharged from his time of dedicated service to his country. During his time of service, Jim married his wife, the former Ruth Bogart, on December 28, 1967.
For many years, Jim was employed as an auto mechanic for the Sears Auto Center located in the Columbia Mall. Jim and his wife were also a member of the Rohrsburg Christian Church. Jim was also a member of the Millville American Legion Post #564, the 40 ET8 Picture Rock Chapter and also the Mountaineers Hunting Club of Port Allegheny. Outside of spending time with his grandchildren and family, James loved being outdoors in the woods hunting and camping in Pennsylvania.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Johnson in 2010.
Jim will live forever in the hearts of his beloved wife of 46 years, Ruth Thomas of Jerseytown; two daughters: Jan Fisk and husband, Aaron, of Millville; and Jami Studebaker and husband, Todd, of Buckhorn; four grandchildren: Tyler and Linsey Fisk, and Katie and James Studebaker; and also a sister: Joan Reitmeyer of Berwick.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will begin on Friday evening, April 11 from 5 to 6 p.m. from the Rohrsburg Christian Church, 636 Rohrsburg Road, Orangeville.
Funeral services will also begin on Friday evening, April 11 at 6 p.m. from the Rohrsburg Christian Church, Orangeville with former pastor of the Rohrsburg Christian Church, Mark Stoker, officiating. Full Military honors provided by the Millville American Legion Post #564 will immediately follow the funeral services. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 107 West Main at Railroad Street, Millville is honored to be serving the Thomas family.
Memorial contributions in Jim's name are suggested to the Rohrsburg Christian Church, 636 Rohrsburg Rd., Orangeville, PA 17859.
