James R. Terwilliger , age 90, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, December 14, 2017, a resident of the Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center. James was a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for over 60 years.
Jim was born on Tuesday, January 11, 1927 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Dayton and Ella (Hill) Terwilliger. Throughout his younger years, he attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1945. Following graduation he faithfully served his country in U.S. Army during World War II, He was honorably discharged in1946.
For most of his working life, Jim was an Office Machine Repair Technician. He was owner and operator of Precision Business Machines until his retirement.
James was a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg. He was also a member of the Ft. McClure Post 804 VFW, Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273, and former Bloomsburg Moose. He was an avid golfer, having achieved numerous golf championships and he enjoyed playing chess.
In addition to his parents, James was also preceded by siblings: Mary Robbins, Herman Terwilliger, Doris Thomas, and Hannah Smith. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his daughter: Kathy A. Stewart of Bloomsburg, his grandson: Brandon T. Miller of Catawissa, and three great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 Market St., with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Private graveside committal services will immediately follow in New Rosemont Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by a joint veteran's group.
