James E. Shuman, age 61, a life-long resident of Mainville, died suddenly on Monday, March 26, 2012 at his residence.
James was born on Friday, February 8, 1951 in Danville, a son of the late Earl E. and Nina (Davis) Shuman. In 1969, Jim graduated from the Bloomsburg High School and also graduated in 1971 from the Williamsport Area Community College with a degree in Aircraft Maintenance. Following his college education, Jim served with the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam Era until 1977.
Throughout his entire life, Jim reveled in his love of farming at their family home in Mainville. He was also employed by Baylor Trucking from 1970 until 1977. Most recently, he was employed by the Bloomsburg School District and worked at the Beaver Main Elementary School as a very dedicated custodian and caretaker for over 30 years.
On June 29, 1974, he married his beloved wife, Susan Shuman. Also surviving are his children: Sara Becker and husband, Joe, of Mainville; Joshua Shuman, Jacob "Jake" Shuman, and Carrie Shuman all of Mainville; three siblings: Rev. Kenneth Shuman of Hammond, LA; Donna Uldriks and husband, Gary, of Fresno, CA; and Karen Wendorf and husband, David, of Hollywood, SC; a sister-in-law: Bonnie Wasilowsky and husband, Steve, of Center Valley; and a brother-in-law: Melvin Baylor and wife, Tina, also of Mainville.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 1, from 2 to 6 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 2 at 11 a.m. from the Emmanuel Reformed Church, 146 Church Road (Mainville), Bloomsburg with Rev. Thomas J. Fetterolf, officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow in Emanuel Reformed Church Cemetery.
