James M. "Jim" Dawalt, age 63, of Lightstreet, died on Monday morning, October 12, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice.
Jim was born on Thursday, July 3, 1952 in Bloomsburg, a one of four children to Helen (McHenry) Dawalt and her late husband, Mark L. Dawalt. While growing up in the Bloomsburg area, Jim attended and later graduated from the Central Columbia High School in 1971. Jim was employed for most of his working career in the building trades, and was most recently employed by Don E. Bower, Inc. of Berwick until his health would not allow. On January 3 1982, Jim married the former Deborah A. Snyder also of Bloomsburg, and they raised their family of three children in Lightstreet. James was a huge NASCAR fan, and loved spending his Sunday's cheering on his favorite drivers. James was well known for his love of the outdoors, spending a day fishing on the creeks or rivers in the area as well as competing the Cowboy Action Shoots held at the Mainville Sportsman Club where he was a member. James was also a member of the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post # 273 and the Bloomsburg Moose Lodge L.O.O.M. #623.
Surviving in addition to his mother, is his wife of 33 years, Deborah A. (Snyder) Dawalt of Lightstreet; three children: James M. Dawalt II and wife, Beverly; Jeffrey M Dawalt; and Angela K. Lannan and husband, Joshua; five grandchildren and three siblings: Timothy M. Dawalt and wife, Carol; Joey A. Dawalt; and Tina M. Thomas and husband, Mark.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday afternoon, October 17 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Saturday afternoon, October 17 at 2 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in Bloomsburg with his pastor, Rev. Jeffrey G. Bohan, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to be serving the Dawalt family.
