Jack D. Unger, Jr., age 59, of Mifflinville, died suddenly on Saturday afternoon, January 6, 2018, at his residence. He was a resident of his home in Mifflinville for over 3 years.
Jack was born on Friday, March 21, 1958 in Berwick, a son of Elaine (Keller) Adams and the late Jack D. Unger, Sr. Jack graduated from the Central Columbia High School in 1976. On June 9, 2000, he married his loving wife, Lorraine A. (Davis) Unger. For over 20 years, Jack was employed by the U.S. Army from 1977 until his retirement in 1997. Jack later was employed as an Office Manager with the Mifflinville Forest Rangers for the past six years. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club, National Rifle Association, American Legion Post #273, Oriental Lodge #460 F&AM, Mifflinville Township Forest Rangers. He enjoyed spending his time hunting, golfing, reading, shooting sports and playing pool.
In addition to his father, Jack was also preceded by his step father, B. Ray Adams.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 17 years, Lorraine A. Unger of Mifflinville; mother, Elaine Adams of Orangeville; step mother, Noreen Unger of Bloomsburg; son, Jack D. Unger, III and wife Sara of Nescopeck; step son, James J. Myers and wife Becky Jo of Saginaw, MI; step son, Mathew D. Myers of Mifflinville; daughter, Patricia D. Unger of Berwick; step son, Joseph D. Matias, III of Puryear, TN; sister, Jill U. and husband Paul Rogala of Bloomsburg; sister, Julie D. and husband Gene Boone of Nescopeck; brother, Joel D. Unger and wife Faith of Bloomsburg and 8 grandchildren.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in with Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, officiating. Military honors will be presented by a combined VFW and American Legion group. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Unger family.
