Obituary

Jack D. "J.D." Unger III, age 45, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, after succumbing to injuries sustained in an automobile accident due to a medical emergency. Jack was a lifelong resident of the Berwick/ Nescopeck area.

Jack was born on Friday, February 13, 1981 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, a son of the late Jack D. Unger Jr., who preceded him in death on January 6, 2018, and Peggy S. Unger. He graduated from the Central Columbia High School in 1999. Jack was employed by Precision Pipeline Solutions as a contractor. As a member of the NRA, J.D. enjoyed spending his time shooting, as well as fixing cars, drawing and woodworking. He was an avid history buff and sword collector, and also loved to cook. Jack enjoyed spending his time playing World of Tanks and Dungeons & Dragons. J.D. was a loving and devoted family man. His quick wit and sarcasm will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his beloved fiancé; Tiffany D. Hopkins, his loving mother; Peggy S. Unger and step-mother; Lorraine A. Unger, his seven children; Brynn K. Gilbert and husband, Matthew, Michaela M. Walters, Karlie M. Stahl, Jarek D. Unger, Dominique N. Unger and partner, Branden Byrd, Jesse D. Unger, Abbi Z. McKinley and partner, Michael Keirns, his grandson; Jaxson A. Byrd, his sister; Patricia D. Unger, three brothers; James J. Myers and wife, Becky Jo, Mathew D. Myers, Joseph D. Matias III and wife, Katie Wilken, his nephew Jaden, who affectionately knew him as "Jack Jack", as well as several aunts and uncles.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg.

Funeral Services will begin on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 4:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Michael Spagnuolo of Catawissa Christian Church, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Unger family.

Memorial contributions in Jack's name are suggested to: Stuart Tank Museum, 309 North Vine Street, Berwick.
