Isaac Paul Hock, age 96, of Bloomsburg, died on Sunday morning, August 24, 2014 at his home and under the care of Commonwealth Home Health & Hospice. Paul had been battling ill health for the past several years.
Paul was born on Friday, August 2, 1918, in Berwick, a son of the late Harold and Letha (Benjamin) Hock. Throughout his younger years, he attended the Mifflinville schools where he graduated in 1936. Shortly after completing his education, Paul enlisted with the United States Army 28th Keystone Division where he served his country faithfully during World War II. During his time of dedicated service, Paul served in the five major campaigns throughout France, Germany and Belgium until his time of honorable discharge.
After returning home from the War, Paul met and married the former Althea Powlus of Bloomsburg on February 15, 1947. For most of his working career, Paul was employed as a welder and a crane operator for the former American Car and Foundry in Berwick, and most recently by Foster Wheeler of Mountain Top until his retirement in 1982. He attended the Ridge Street United Methodist Church in Almedia, and also a long-time member of the former Bloomsburg Church of the Nazarene where he served as a member of the church board. He was also recognized as a ten gallon blood donor with the American Red Cross where he faithfully donated up to the years of his 80's.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 67 years, Althea P. Hock, of Bloomsburg; a son: Rick Hock, of Bloomsburg; and a daughter: Paula Hock of Lancaster, CA; and also by a sister: Agnes Slusser of St. Augustine, FL.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday afternoon, August 28 from 1 to 2 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Thursday afternoon, August 28 at 2 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Rev. Dr. Robert J. Eddinger, officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge with full Military Honors provided a combined group of VFW/American Legion. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Hock family.
