Irene M. Thompson, age 95, of Bloomsburg, died on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at home under the care of Columbia Montour Hospice. Irene was a resident of Bloomsburg for since 1944.
Irene was born on Friday, December 23, 1921 in Carson, New Mexico. Following graduation from high school she completed some college credits. She was a Dietary Technician and was employed by Bloomsburg Hospital for over 40 years until her retirement.
Irene was an active member of St. Paul Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Alter Guild. She enjoyed spending her time gardening, sewing, and she loved animals.
In addition to her parents and several siblings, Irene was also preceded by her husband, Roy A. Thompson.
Survivors include her brother, Jerry Graves of Tres Piedras, NM and a nephew whom she raised: Jimmy Edwards (Suzie) of Pottstown, PA.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Main and Iron Streets, Bloomsburg.
A Requiem Eucharist will begin at 2:00 pm with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Howard Sasser, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Thompson family.
