Ida P. Keller, age 89, of Bloomsburg, died on Saturday morning, November 16, 2013 a resident of Emeritus at Bloomsburg since September of 2011, and under the care of Columbia Montour Home Hospice. Ida was a resident of her home in Bloomsburg since 1955.
Ida was born on Monday, August 4, 1924 in Buckhorn, a daughter of the late Rufus and Mary (Shoemaker) Robbins. Throughout her younger years, Ida attended the Hemlock Township and Bloomsburg Area Schools. She later married her loving husband Bruce L. Keller also of Bloomsburg. She was a member of the Bloomsburg Christian Church. Ida devoted her love and time to caring for her husband and raising her children in the home. They will always remember her for her love of yard work and looking forward every year to the arrival of the Bloomsburg Fair. There are also many fond memories her family has of time spent at the Keller family cabin in the Benton area. Ida was also proud of her children and grandchildren, and loved attending all of their activities.
On July 13, 2006, Ida was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, the late Bruce L. Keller. She was also preceded by a son, Ricky, in 1979; a brother: Orville Robbins and a sister: Fern Hill.
Survivors include a daughter: Sandra K. Romig and husband, Terry, of Catawissa; a son: Rodney B. Keller and wife, Susan, of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren: Denise Steffie, Christopher Keller, Kyle Romig and Chad Romig; as well as five great-grandchildren.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening, November 21 from 6 to 7 p.m. from the Bloomsburg Christian Church, 107 Deussen Drive, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Thursday evening, November 21 at 7 p.m. from the Bloomsburg Christian Church with Lead Minister, Eric Miller, officiating. Graveside services will be held privately for the family in Lime Ridge. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be assisting the Keller family.
