I. Lucille Vought, age 90, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday evening, February 19, 2015, a patient of the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital in Bloomsburg. Lucille was a resident of her home in Bloomsburg for over 30 years.
Lucille was born on Saturday, November 22, 1924 in Mayberry Township of Montour County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late John M. and Carrie (Martz) Vought . Throughout her younger years, Lucille attended the Center School, one-room schoolhouse, in Mayberry Township until the age of 8, and later graduated from the Ralpho Township High School in 1943. Lucille began her career as a bank teller in the First National Bank of Elysburg, and after 40 years she retired in 1984 as the Assistant Manager of the former Northern Central Bank in Elysburg. Lucille was a life-long member of the St. John (Vought) Lutheran Church in Mayberry Township where she served as a Sunday School Secretary, on the Church Council and treasurer of the Joint Council. She was currently the treasurer of both the Improvement and the Vought Cemetery Funds Committee at the church. She was also a Charter Member of the Christie Circle. In addition to volunteering, Lucille loved to garden and also enjoyed traveling in her younger years. Lucille also took the time to enjoy nature, especially growing beautiful flowers, particularly African violets.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded by two sisters: Betty Klinger and Mary Ellen Ernest. Lucille is survived by her only nephew: Kenneth Ernest and wife, Linda, of Sunbury and great-nephew: John Ernest of Lewisburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday afternoon, February 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the St. John's (Vought) Lutheran Church, 29 High Road, Danville with her pastor, Rev. Chris Brown, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the St. John's (Vought) Lutheran Church Cemetery, Mayberry Township. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Vought and Ernest families.
