Herschel H. Klinger, age 88, of Bloomsburg, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 4, 2025, a resident of the Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danville. He was a resident of his home in Montour Township for over 13 years.
Herschel was born on Saturday, June 12, 1937, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late John and Mildred (Carpenter) Klinger. He attended the Bloomsburg area schools. Herschel enlisted in the United States Army on July 8, 1954, and was honorably discharged on August 2, 1957. On June 27, 1959, he married his loving wife, the former Marlene Pennypacker. For over 72 years, Herschel was a business owner, Klinger Furnace Cleaning and Repair, until his retirement in 2018. He was a member of the Buckhorn Methodist Church, Bloomsburg. Herschel was also a member of the VFW Post 804, American Legion 273, and he managed Bloomsburg Panthers Football. He was a bowler in several leagues and was a baseball player for many years and an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. Herschel was well known throughout the Bloomsburg and surrounding area for his hard work ethic and kindness to others.
In addition to his parents, Herschel was also preceded in death by six siblings; his twin brother, Fred Klinger, Jack Klinger, Robert Klinger, Margaret Singley, Clara Gross, Betty Swisher, and as well as his son in law: Dennis W. Artley.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Marlene Klinger; two children, a daughter Linda E. Artley, a son Herschel "Buddy" Klinger and wife Lori all of Bloomsburg, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; also, two sisters: Nancy Webb of Bloomsburg, Shirley McAllister of Elizabethville.
Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Klinger family.
