Herbert N. Hewlett, Jr. age 82, of Bloomsburg, died Monday, January 26, 2015 in the Emergency Room of Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital where he was taken after being stricken at home. Herbert was born in Bloomsburg on Saturday, October 15, 1932. He was the son of the late Emma Yohey Hewlett Moser and the step-son of Roy Moser.
Herb completed his education upon graduation from the Bloomsburg High School in 1951. His entire working Kawneer was dedicated to Kawneer Industries. He retired as Quality Control Inspector in 1995.
Herbert was of the Christian faith. On June 19, 1954, he became the devoted husband of Shirley Pursel. They celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary this past June.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, Herb is survived by two sisters: Doris Folk and her husband, Robert, of Danville and Shirley Garraway and her husband, William, of Bloomsburg. Preceding him in death is a sister: Carol A. McWilliams in 1994.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 29, from 1 to 2 pm. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St. Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 2 pm at the funeral home with lay minister, Woodrow Wolf, officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Lime Ridge.
