Hendrick E. "Moe" Williams, Sr., age 89, of Danville, died on Tuesday evening, December 15, 2015 surrounded by his family at his home of seventy years and under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice.
Moe was born on Saturday, October 30, 1926, in Kingston Township, Luzerne County, a son of the late Remigius H. and Mary E. (Miller) Williams. He graduated high school in 1944 from the Lake Township High School in Harvey's Lake. On February 16, 1955, Moe married his beloved wife of 59 years, the late Ruth Elizabeth "Betty" (Coleman) Williams who passed on October 23, 2014. For 30 years, Moe was employed as a Psychiatric Aide at the Danville State Hospital. Moe was also a dairy farmer on the family farm in Columbia County until 1978, and then raised Holstein heifers. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Holstein Association, the former Grovania Grange and a member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Grovania.
In addition to his parents and wife, Moe was preceded in death by a son: Ronald L. Williams on December 27, 1991, and siblings Louisa E. Lewis and Abram Nesbitt Williams.
Survivors include his son: Hendrick E. "Rick" Williams, Jr. and wife, Kathleen, of Dunkirk, NY; three grandchildren: Ryan L. Williams of Bloomsburg; Stacey M. Williams of Dunkirk, NY; and Trenton A. Williams also of Dunkirk, NY; two great-grandchildren: Camden Williams and Lilyana Beck; and also by a sister: Elaine W. Parks of Orangeville.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening, December 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Monday morning, December 21 at 11 a.m. at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 8 County Line Dr., Danville with his interim pastor, Rev. Melody Sell, officiating and assisted by Karla Leiby. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to be serving the Williams family.
