Helen R. Young

Helen R. Young, age 95, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, a patient of the UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. She resided in Scott Township for over 70 years. Helen was born on Sunday, March 16, 1930 in Killinger, PA a daughter of the late David M. and Mary C. (Mitchell) Neagley. She graduated from the Millersburg High School and The Harrisburg Polyclinic School of Nursing. On July 5, 1952, Helen married her loving husband, Franklin C. Young, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1991. For many years, she was employed by various healthcare providers, including Bloomsburg Hospital; Doctors Funke and Chopra; Doctors David and Blairanne Revak; Char Mund Nursing Home and Bloomsburg University as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1995. Helen was a member of the Shiloh Bible Church. For many years, she enjoyed leading woman's bible studies, doing puzzles, and her daily walks. Helen loved sewing and was an expert quilter, often quilting for her family. She enjoyed not only sharing meals at her home but often delivering meals, as well as canning and freezing. More than anything, Helen loved her family and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was also preceded in death by her loving daughter-in-law, Deborah L. Young, and her brother, W. Clair Neagley. Survivors include her beloved children, Daniel E. Young of Bloomsburg, Brian D. Young and wife Carla of Catawissa, and Mary Jane Young of New Cumberland, her grandchildren; Mitchell A. Young and wife Jenna, of Leesburg, VA, Dr. Christopher D. Young and wife Michelle of Fuquay Varina, NC, Aaron D. Young and wife Deborah of Bloomsburg, Joshua D. Young of Catawissa, Lydia A. Busada and husband Dr. Michael Busada of Linden, great-grandchildren; Jason, Trevor, Emma, Lucy, Charlotte, Jane, Hazel, Joslynn, Sarah, and Landon, as well as her sister; Alma C. Gair of Danville. A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Shiloh Bible Church, 123 Church St. Bloomsburg. A memorial tribute will be presented by The Sun Nurses Honor Guard at 11:45 am. Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Shiloh Bible Church with Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg.
