Helen Theresa Stugrin Coalision, age 93, of Clearview Avenue, Bloomsburg, died on Friday, June 24, 2011 a patient of Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She had been in failing health for several years. Since May 2010, she was a resident of Maria Joseph Manor in Danville.
Helen was born on Sunday, December 2, 1917, in Mt. Carmel, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Dorko) Celosky. She was the youngest of six children. She attended Houck School and Kulp High School. In 1936, she married Andrew Jacob Stugrin, who was born in New York City; he preceded her in death in 1960. Over the years, she was employed at Bloomsburg Mills, Capitol Bakers, and Bloomsburg University. She was a 75-year member of St. Columba Parish in Bloomsburg where for many years she was active in Scouts, Catholic Daughters, and the parish's fundraising activities. She was also a volunteer for over 10 years making beds at Maria Joseph Manor.
Survivors include a son: Michael Andrew Stugrin, of Long Beach, California, and many nephews and nieces, including: Lucille Powers and Frank Daniels of Cleveland, OH; Peggy Duran of Baltimore, MD; and Carol Stugrin Roinick of Laporte, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 11 a.m. from the St. Columba Catholic Church, Third and Iron Street, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Joseph H. Fennessy, celebrant. Friends will be received on Thursday at the Church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Graveside services will be held in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
