Helen R. Buck, age 104, formerly of Bloomsburg, passed away on Wednesday evening, November 10, 2021, a resident of Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
She was born on Saturday, June 9, 1917 in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Herbert Raymond and Harriet Ruth (Kocher) Chandler. Helen graduated from the Moses Taylor Hospital School of Nursing in 1938. Helen was employed by Geisinger Medical Center, Danville in the Pediatric Clinic as a Registered Nurse until her retirement. She was the State Regent from 1961-1964.
Helen was a member of the American Red Cross, the Daughters of the American Colonists, the Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims; National Society, Daughters of Colonial Wars, The National Huguenot Society, Colonial Daughters 17th Century Huguenot Society of Pennsylvania, Wyoming Monument Society, Forty Fort, PA, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, the Columbia County Federated Women's Club, and a life member of the Eastern Star Bloomsburg Chapter.
In addition to her parents, Helen was also preceded in death by her husband Miller Isiah Buck, by a son, Charles Raymond Buck, Sr., a sister, Mary Jane Arena, a brother, Herbert Raymond Chandler, and a grandson, Charles R. Buck, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Shoemaker of Penn Yan, NY, a granddaughter, Lorrie wife of Scott Diltz, a grandson, Marshall Robertson, two great-granddaughters, Nissa wife of Kris Craig, and Carrie Buck.
Graveside funeral services will begin on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 10:00 am at New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy with Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Buck family.
