Harry E. Woodward, 99, of Bloomsburg and formerly of Steelton, passed away peacefully Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Gardens at Orangeville. Born in Steelton on February 17, 1927, he was a son to the late John and Olivia (Arp) Woodward.
Mr. Woodward was a graduate of Steelton High School, Class of 1945 and would, later, continue his education at Weber State University. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, spending two years in the Philipines. In 1950, Harry wed the love of his life, the former Ann Marie Turner, with whom he would raise a family, travel the world, and share 76 years of marriage. After serving in the Army, Harry worked at Olmsted Air Force Base until its closure in 1965, when he was transferred to Hill Air Force Base in Layton, UT. He retired in 1982, from the position of Chief of Aircraft Manufacture and Repair. A man of great faith, he attended First Baptist Church of Steelton, where he sang in the male choir and played saxophone with the church band, and had previously attended New Zion Baptist Church in Ogden, UT, where he had served as a trustee. He had also served two terms as President of the Layton City Kiwanis Club. Harry was a man of many talents. He was a gifted track athlete and skilled golfer. He was an artist, as well as a musician who played multiple instruments. His greatest joys, however, were his beloved family and the times spent with them.
Surviving Harry are his loving wife, Ann Marie (Turner) Woodward; grandchildren: Turon Humphrey and wife, Roxann, of Bloomsburg and Andre Woodward of Aurora, CO; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by son, Harry E. Woodward Jr. and grandson, Michael Randolph.
Harry’s services are private with his interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. of Bloomsburg, is honored to serve the Woodward family.
