Harriet Z. (Zeigler) Jones, age 99, of Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday morning, February 17, 2015. Harriet was a resident of her home in Bloomsburg for over 60 years.
Harriet was born on Sunday, October 17, 1915 in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Harry Marvin and Elsie Mildred (Barkel) Zeigler. Throughout her younger years, Harriet attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1932. For over 42 years, Harriet was employed by the Department of Public Assistance as a Executive Secretary until her retirement in 1975. Harriet was a devoted member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg. She was also a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, and the Women of the Moose over the past 60 years.
In addition to her parents, Harriet was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Charles H. Jones, who passed on November 18, 1996; and also by a sister: Beverly Z. Patterson.
Survivors include four nephews: James P. Demaree and wife, Susan, of Avon, CT; Richard C. Demaree and wife, Marianne, of Berwick; David A. Demaree and wife, Marjorie, of Lowell, MA; and K. Eric Wolfe and companion, Linda, of Crofton, MD; three great-nieces: Julie Demaree, Jackie Demaree, and Andrea Demaree; and also by a great-nephew: Mark Demaree.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday morning, February 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg
Funeral services will also begin on Saturday morning, February 21 at 11 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Jones family.
