Harold Price, Jr., age 67, of Bloomsburg died unexpectedly on Sunday morning, June 14, 2015 in the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital Emergency Room.
Harold was born on Christmas day, December 25, 1947 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Harold and Ruth (Lewis) Price, Sr. Throughout his younger years, he attended the Bloomsburg area schools and graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1965. Immediately following his education, Harold enlisted in the United States Navy where he served our country faithfully during the Vietnam War from 1965 until his retirement in 1993. Harold served as a Chief Petty Officer, and was awarded the honors of two National Defense Service Medals; the Navy Achievement Medal; the Gold Wreath Award; fourth Good Conduct Award for period ending on May 13, 1992; three Navy Recruiting Medals; and the Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal during his military career.
During his time of service, Harold married his wife, the former Sharon Martz, of Bloomsburg on September 13, 1969. Harold was a member of the Bloomsburg Elks B.P.O.E. #436, the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post# 273 and also Ft. McClure VFW Post # 804 in Bloomsburg.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Sharon (Martz) Price, of Bloomsburg; a daughter: Julie Billingslea of Bloomsburg; a son: Jeffrey H. Price and wife, Patricia, also of Bloomsburg; three grandsons: Zachary, Hunter and Reid; and two sisters: Margie Brusseau and husband, Larry, of Athens, TN; and Patti Wilson and husband, Daniel, of Charlottesville, VA.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening, June 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg. A fraternal service will begin at 6 p.m. from the Bloomsburg Elks, B.P.O.E. #436, and followed by full Military Honors accorded by a combined VFW/American Legion Group. At the request of the family, all funeral services will be held privately at this time. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., in Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Price family.
